Bargellos

The next scrapbooking technique I'm going to share with you is bargello.  Bargello was originally a needlework technique that used rows of color to create geometric shapes.  Quilters and paper crafters have adapted it resulting in stunning scrapbook layouts.

I can't believe its been 10 years since my daughters and I took this picture.  They were just young ladies.  They are now beautiful women!

What you will need:
Six sheets of coordinating paper
Bone folder
Paper cutter
Metal ruler
Stylus
Scissors

Cut four 1.5 inch strip out of each paper, score length-wise .25" from the edge and fold, and layer on your 12x12 piece of card stock alternating patterns.  Turn project over and trim the excess off.  Finally, mat your photo and you have a very eye catching layout that looks like you spent hours putting together!

You can create any design with these strips that you like.  You are only limited by your imagination.  I hope you will try this technique you will be happy with the results.

Dress Maker Details

I was nominated by the sweet and talented Angeline Choo, who just won for the Best Paper Crafts Photography for the Craftsy Blogger Awards, to share some of my art with you in the #artchain.  So I thought I would dig through my old scrapbooks and share what first inspired me to travel down the road of paper crafting.

How many of you remember the show on DIY - Scrapbooking.  I couldn't wait for a day off from work so I could watch the show!  I even bought the DVDs.  I still watch them.

This layout is one from Anna Griffin - Dress Maker Details.

I love this layout.  It took a lot of time to set all these eyelets but the beauty of the page was worth all the work!

Each little book opens and I selected photos that highlight the details of my wedding dress.  Wow how time flies.

I used the DCWV Luxury stack.  I just love all the shimmer and elegance of the paper.

Luckily I was so obsessed with the show that I downloaded all the project sheets from their website (they are no longer there).  Here is the project sheet for this layout.
